L.A. (Local Artist) Feature: Jason Soudah
As you may know, I’m a huge fan of The Hotel Cafe! It’s gotta be my favorite venue to catch live shows and discover new artists. This past week I went for an album release show and discovered an amazing new artist, Jason Soudah.
Even though I arrived about halfway through Jason’s set, his musical style and sound immediately caught my attention. Read the rest of this entry »

My “Go-To” Bar: The Woods
Posted by Nessa in Places In & Around L.A. on March 3, 2010
Ever since discovering The Woods a few months back, it has become my go-to bar in Hollywood. It’s one of those places where you immediately feel at home; it’s got a very laid-back kinda vibe which makes it a great place to go with a group of friends for a low-key night.
From the exterior it’s nothing special; in fact The Woods is located off La Brea within the confines of a crappy strip mall complete with a sketchy liquor store. I have to admit, the first time I was introduced to The Woods, I was pretty skeptical based on the nearby surroundings… but sometimes these hidden spots turn out to be the best locations! I love that it’s not in a high traffic area and you can even find street parking nearby!
Capitol City: Sports Bar with Style
Posted by Nessa in L.A. Food, Places In & Around L.A., Sports on February 10, 2010
Classified as an “Upscale Sports Bar,” Capitol City puts a new twist on your typical overcrowded and dumpy sports bar. This place is unique in the sense that it’s classy and sophisticated, yet you’ll still feel in place wearing a Lakers jersey! With TVs covering practically every inch of the dining and bar area along with a giant projection screen as the main focal point of the main room, you may assume that this would take away from the decor and style of the bar but Capitol City keeps it classy with its modern interior design. They are able to flawlessly fuse a “media center” of sports coverage with elegance and style. This rarely achievable combo makes it (in my opinion) the perfect place to catch a game whether it be the Lakers, March Madness or the MLB playoffs!
