Lemonade in L.A.
Posted by Nessa in L.A. Food, Places In & Around L.A. on July 7, 2010
Nothing says Summer like a tall glass of freshly squeezed lemonade and al a carte style gourmet food. That’s why Lemonade is my favorite spot to grab a light and refreshing summertime lunch.
With the name, Lemonade, it’s fairly obvious that they specialize in serving up some pretty sweet lemonades. Not only do they have amazing flavored lemonades like Cucumber Mint, Watermelon Rosemary, Ginger Peach they also feature a daily Sugar-Free lemonade selection for people like me! They make their Sugar-Free lemonades right by leaving out the sugar and simply leaving in only the fresh ingredients – no fake sweeteners :)
The selection of Marketplace sides, homemade soups, hearty sandwiches and even sweets, are truly mouth-watering. This place is perfect anyone who like to for mix and match! I love the unexpected flavor combinations of the Marketplace side dishes… savory with just the right touch of sweetness makes for perfect pairings.

Paty’s: Best B-fast in the Valley!
Posted by Nessa in L.A. Food, Places In & Around L.A. on June 5, 2010
Breakfast is most definitely my favorite meal of the day – Give me cereal or instant oatmeal and I’m a happy camper :) Heck, I could eat bfast food anytime of the day. Since moving to L.A. I hadn’t really found an AMAZING breakfast spot… and have been disappointed by the bagel places here (another bfast fave) – Why is it that L.A. does not know how to make bagels?! They’re just not the same… Any other east-coasters notice this? Speaking of East Coast, I miss Dunkin Donuts, not for their donuts, but for their amazing blueberry bagels and blueberry iced coffee. But I digress, I’m talking about a go-to weekend breakfast place like my favorite deli, “Tailgate” (at home in Massachusetts) or restaurant, “The Egg Plant” (at school in Syracuse).
A while back, I was taken to breakfast at a little diner on Riverside Dr in Toluca Lake, called Paty’s. From the outside, I didn’t expect it to be any better than a mediocre diner. I’m not typically the “diner-type” since I tend to eat healthy and avoid greasy and fried foods. Upon opening the menu, I discovered a whole page titled, “Fitness Menu” which was full of healthy options like make-your-own omelets with egg whites and served with brown rice and a bran muffin! I order this EVERY time… with Avocado and tomato <3
Since discovering the amazing-ness of Paty’s, I rarely miss a late Saturday breakfast there. Not only do they have my-style healthy options, they give you huge portions for a reasonable price. I can never finish everything and usually save my bran muffin (which, by the way, are DELICIOUS and served warm) for a snack later in the day. If you prefer the hash-browns and sausage or maybe pancakes and waffles, they’ve got a huge menu, so I promise you’ll be happy too! They’ve even got lunch and dinner options and the best part is that they serve breakfast all day!
Well, it’s Saturday so I’m off to Paty’s! ;)

I <3 Counter Burger And I Don’t Even Eat Burgers…
Posted by Nessa in L.A. Food, Places In & Around L.A. on May 2, 2010
I had probably walked by this place a dozen times… Not even noticing it was a restaurant. Counter Burger looks more like a copy center than a burger joint from the exterior (anyone agree?)! Guess I failed to notice the tagline beneath the name reading, “Custom Built Burgers.”
Either way, a “Burger” place is not something that would typically catch my attention. I’m not a vegetarian, but I don’t really eat too much red meat (I mostly stick to chicken) so seeing “Burger” in the name, I have to admit, I was less than ecstatic to give it a try. That was until I saw their customizable “Burger” menu! I’m a girl that LOVES any place that allows you to “make-your-own” or “customize-your-own” food/drink ehhh errr FRO-YO! Even though I tend to mix and match too many flavors (red velvet, pistachio, peanut butter + gummy bears, strawberries…) I love to create my own concoctions and try out different combinations! But I digress… back to Counter Burger.
