Spread the Word, Give Hope… Be an Angel

With the holidays literally around the corner… I am reminded of how lucky I am and ways that I can help give back to others who are less fortunate. Every holiday season (and periodically throughout the year) I like to support  several charities that I am passionate about. This year, I made donations to the Lance Armstrong foundation, helped organize a Gulf Coast benefit event for my company in addition to making donations to various wildlife organizations working to help animals affected by the oil spill. This holiday season, I have discovered an amazing organization to support: The Global Angels Organization.

I was truly touched when I first learned about the Global Angel organization through Daniel Bedingfield. It is a wonderful charity that was established by Daniel and Natasha Bedingfield’s mother, Molly in 2004 with its sole mission being to answer “the cry of the children” who are suffering around the world. With her heartfelt passion and philanthropic roots, she established this international foundation to drive awareness and develop sustainable solutions for protecting vulnerable children around the world. What drew me most to this charity though was its 100% promise (meaning that every penny received from the public goes directly towards actionable grass roots projects!)

Daniel Bedingfield (who is one of the Global Angel’s International Ambassadors) recently performed at an intimate “Angels in Concert” Global Angeles event at The Bedford in London to spread awareness and show his support the cause. Attendees chose to “Step Up” and become Angels –  check out these amazing photographs from the night: Step Up! Photos Angels in Concert – The Bedford 2010!

Here’s a video clip from the night as well: Gotta Get Thru This – The Bedford (Global Angels Event)

In addition to charity events, Daniel along with the other celebrity ambassadors (Natasha Bedingfield, Sean Kingston and Laura Michelle Kelly just to list a few) all serve as spokespeople for the charity. Using their recognized voices to spread awareness about injustices, they also inspire and inform others how the Global Angels organization helps reach out to children in need.

“Children are helpless. We need to ease their suffering the world over. By supporting Global Angels Foundation in their passion to raise crucial funding for projects that are helping children, we are giving them back the chance of a happy life and letting them know they are loved.” - Laura Michelle Kelly (International Ambassador)

For more information on the Global Angels charity and to find out how you can help, visit their website or “step up” to earn your “wings” by making a donation right now: Click here to donate. Also, make sure to stay up to date with the latest by connecting with Global Angels on Facebook and Twitter! Even if you don’t have the means to donate money, you can help by spreading the word about Global Angels through your own social networks – Feel free to share this post :)

Wishing you all a happy holiday xox

It’s #SocialGood Day… Let’s Make a Difference!

If you weren’t aware, today is Social Good day! I love the many ways in which social media is helping to inspire charitable giving and help drive awareness and participation. My heart still breaks when I think about all the wildlife that’s been affected and continues to be threatened by the aftermath of the Gulf Coast oil spill.

In celebration of Social Good day and with the amazing talent of my friend, Teresa Williams (designer of Stolen Tower Designs), we’re helping to raise money for the Gulf Coast wildlife preservation efforts by donating a portion of the proceeds from each handcrafted #SocialGood Wildlife pouch to a charity.

Inspired by the precious wildlife affected by the oil spill, Limited Edition Pelican, Turtle and Whale #SocialGood Wildlife pouches for $15 on Etsy here.

#SocialGood Wildlife Pouches

For each and every adorable #SocialGood Wildlife pouch order placed today through Sunday (12am PST), a $10 donation will be made on your behalf to help these animals. And for every order beyond September 26th, a $3 donation will be made.

Please help us spread the word about these adorable #SocialGood Wildlife pouches and the great organization they’re helping!

GIVEAWAY: As a special Thank You, I will be giving away one pouch via my blog. For a chance to win, please leave a comment letting me know how you helped spread the word about the #SocialGood day! (I will choose a person at random and announce the winner this Sunday!)

This Post = 20lbs of Dog Food!

If you know me, you know I have a soft spot for all animals! The other day I came across an article on Mashable that caught my eye: Pedigree Donates Dog Food for Blog Posts. For each blog post about Pedigree’s adoption program, Pedigree will donate 20lbs of food to help feed animal shelter dogs as part of their genius, “Write a Post, Help a Dog” campaign. Their mission is to help “shelter dogs” become just regular “dogs” through their adoption program which makes it easy for those looking for a pup to find their perfect match.

Not only does Pedigree help shelter dogs find permanent homes with their adoption program, they are also dedicated to ensuring those dogs in the shelters are well nourished. In addition to their current blog campaign, just for “Liking” Pedigree on Facebook, they promise to donate a bowl of dog food and for each bag of Pedigree dog food purchased, a donation is made to help animals find homes.

Pedigree isn’t the only company dedicated to helping dogs… I recently learned about Freaky Dog People; a community established by self-proclaimed “freaky dog people”, Ted & Leanne that’s dedicated to everything dog-related. Sharing their passion of dogs, their mission is to spread awareness and raise money for animal rescue organizations and shelters.

For each item of Freaky Dog People merchandise sold, a portion of the profit is donated to dog rescue organizations and shelters to give back to those who dedicate their lives to helping improve the lives of dogs. Make sure to check out their cute line of clothing (for dog lovers, not dogs) and “Like” their Facebook page to connect and learn about their upcoming events!

If you are looking to bring home a new dog, make sure to save a life and adopt from a shelter! If you can’t bring one home yourself, help to spread the word and show your support.
